Stewardship Ministry: Zacchaeus Project

In this much-needed ministry, Brother Charland provides a Biblical foundation for churches to return to 1st Century stewardship of our earthly resources.

Why is there a need for this type of ministry?

Consider the following important information:

Wealth Facts:

If you make:
  • 30K per year:  You're at the top 7% of the world's wealthiest people
  • 40K per year:  You're at the top 3% of the world's wealthiest people
  • 50K per year:  You're at the top 1% of the world's wealthiest people

Unfortunately, we tend to gauge our wealth based on those who have more than we do, but consider these additional facts:
  • 93% of the world's people do not even own a car
  • 3 billion people are desperately poor
  • 1 billion people are hungry
  • 10 million children die needlessly every year

Most of our brothers and sisters in Christ in the developing world live in grinding poverty - yet we ignore their plight and continue to live lives of ease and luxury.

Great Blessing Has Led to Great Apathy

Americans have been blessed by God with greater wealth than any other people in the history of the world.  For American believers, that means we have a greater responsibility with our wealth than any other Christians in history.

Indeed, when we get to heaven, we will hear the Savior say one of two things regarding our wealth: "Well done, thou good and faithful servant" (Mt 25:21, 23)  or "Thou fool" (Lk 12:20).  This is a sobering thought.  Our Stewardship Ministry presents a Biblical way for us to use our wealth wisely, investing in eternal rather than temporal things using the Zacchaeus Project as a road map.

The Zacchaeus Project enables Christians to understand God's perspective of who is rich and poor, rather than our own, relative perspectives.  We can then determine the difference between "wants" and "needs" and determine from the Word of God just exactly what God expects us to do with the resources we have.

If American Christians invested their wealth in eternal things, we could turn America around in a few short years.

What Can Your Church Do?

Through the Zacchaeus Project, Christians in local churches can take control of their personal resources and join together to:
  • Provide money to our missionaries to meet the temporal needs of our fellow believers in poor countries.
  • Provide a common treasury at the local church to meet the needs of the members (e.g., widows and orphans).
  • Provide funds to publish Bibles and tracts to be distributed to missionaries around the world to reach the lost.
  • Host home missions events like the Yard Free to reach the lost in your community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

At this church Yard Free, people were surprised to learn that they were not at a yard sale, but that all items were being given away for free (along with the Gospel and ministry CDs and DVDs).  Three people came to Christ through this event at Calvary Baptist Church in Essex Junction, VT in 2013.
